1.Villa Kuang @ Sg. Buloh
Located at only about 40 minutes away from Kuala Lumpur city, Villa Kuang offers a glimpse of paradise for urbanites. What I really love about this Villa is its traditional Malay architecture within the modern setting. If you’re a fan of heritage staycations like me, choose this beautiful Malaysian traditional house and get overwhelmed by nostalgia and natural surroundings. Trust me, you won’t be disappointed! I’ve been to the villa myself and I totally recommend to all of you; check out my review on Villa Kuang in Sungai Buloh here.
Property: Villa with 3 bedrooms
Max no. of guest: 7 pax
Breakfast: Inclusive, Malaysian or Western breakfast
Facilities: Indoor pool, living room with TV, cooking facilities, BBQ, animal farm
Highlight: No internet access available but personally I think that’s the best part of the stay. Detox yourself from the internet and get connected with your family, friends and nature!
Address: Lorong Orkid, Kuang, Sungai Buloh, 47000 Kuala Lumpur
2. The Shorea Retreats
Located in the Berembun Forest Reserve, The Shorea Retreats is a boutique eco-resort with outstanding views on the rolling jungle hills. It has 8 villas with 15 rooms that can be rented individually or as a whole, sleeping up to 40 adults. It has two wings: The Shorea Resort (like the Shorea Villa Kemboja) is wooden naturally ventilated villa complex, while the recently built Shorea Estate is equipped with air-conditioner. Only a short trip away from KL – about one and half hour drive – it is the perfect weekend getaway near Kuala Lumpur for nature lovers and peace seekers. P.S. A review of Shorea is coming soon!
Property: 8 villas with 15 rooms
Max no. of guest: 40 pax
Breakfast: Traditional Malay set with fresh fruits
Other meals: Extensive dinner, lunch and snack menu is available, prepared by the local chef and his team. You can choose between Western fine dining and Asian cuisine.
Facilities: Infinity & plunge pools, sun deck, common living room with books & games, massage services.
Highlight: Since the Villas are located in the Berembun Forest Reserve, you can opt for nature walk early in the morning or late evenings with an indigenous tribesman, also known as ‘orang asli’ from the nearby village as your guide. This rather easy jungle track follows the Batang Benar River and its beautiful waterfalls. On your way I also spotted the Shorea tree after which this resort is named after.
Address: Kampung Kolam Air, Mukim Pantai, Jalan Jelebu, 71770 Seremban, Negeri Sembilan
3. The Dusun
Another Seremban hidden gem, The Dusun is a 12 acre orchard resort housing 6 villas. On one hand, there are Malay-styled houses like the Dusun Berembun House on stilts, with verandahs on two sides facing the Berembun Forest Reserve (my favourite!). On the other hand, choose the Dusun Sora House if you’re not into traditional Malay interior and would still prefer urban decor; it’s a modern villa with white decor and expanse of glass set in the striking jungle scenery. Hardcore instagrammers will also love two infinity pools overlooking the beautiful hilly scenery! Expect cool nights as this resort is 800 feet above sea level in the foothills of the Titiwangsa Main Range.
Property: 6 villas
Max no. of guest: 18 pax
Breakfast: Traditional Malay set with fresh fruits
Other meals: Barbeque and Minangkabau ( an Indigenous ethnic group of West Sumatra, Indonesia) meal sets are available and need to be ordered in advance.
Facilities: Infinity pools, events space, catering, bbq, and dining patio.
Highlight: Fan of photography? Explore the Berembun jungle and learn how to capture nature with the help of Nikt Wong, a renowned and seasoned local photographer. Different packages available.
Address: 3437, Kampung Kolam Air, Mukim Pantai, 71770 Seremban, Negeri Sembilan
4. Gerimis Senja Villa Hulu Langat
Indulge yourself in the tranquility and nature at Hulu Langat- a district located in the south corridor of the Klang Valley. Only about 45 minutes away from KL city centre, Gerimis Senja Villa is a treat for your eyes and ears. The two bedroom luxurious bungalow surrounded by tropical fruits trees is perfect for a weekend getaway with families or friends! Right after the relaxing dip in the infinity pool, get your BBQ party going or request for the catering service. The luxury abode would rejuvenate your tired mind and body.
