Meet Athira Shahab, a social media influencer who loves to travel! She’s been to almost everywhere. Check out her interview to find out more about this beautiful traveller.
T: A short bio about yourself? 3-4 lines that best describe you, what you do for a living and so…
A: Goes by the name Sharifah Nur Athira Binti Syed Zainal Abidin but Athira is what everyone calls me, short and simple cause boy it’s a really long name I got there.
I turned 23 last May. Hmm to describe myself, one of the things my friends said I have a bubbly personality. I’m approachable, passionate about the things I love to do and love to explore new things but not food… I’m currently in my final semester doing Finance and finishing my degree in January. Still a student and currently not looking for any jobs because I made plans to travel with my parents #justanexcusetofacereality.
T: Where have you been?
A: Let’s start with our home country, Malaysia. I think I’ve covered most of it. Moving on to Indonesia, Thailand, Australia, Spain, Morocco, India, Pakistan, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Korea, China. Couldn’t recall precisely where but I got most of it.
T: What’s your favourite place so far? Why?
A: It would be Melbourne, Australia. The people and culture there is just beyond my imagination. Went to Melbourne twice and fell in love with it as if it was my first time there.
T: What was the most challenging thing about travelling?
A: For me, it will always be food, I am quite a picky eater and I don’t like to be adventurous in trying the scrumptious food but I overcome it with practice because I told myself that I have to make sure that I will try their cuisine when I’m in a different country! I’ve grown mature and brought lesser ‘Brahims‘ with me when I travel.
T: What place is top of your bucket list?
A: Iceland.
T: One advice to travellers?
A: Be bold to explore new countries and yourself. It’s when you’ll learn so many new things and sometimes it taught you to be grateful for what you have and you’ll come back to your home country thinking “Hey, my country is not that bad after all..”
